An Inspiring Business Lesson From Rapper Eminem

jamie lewis RayCharles300x250I’m not exaggerating when I say this may be one of the most important articles you will ever read. It is a bit long, but I’d encourage you to read it ALL, because it may just change your life.

I’ve noticed that most of the successful internet marketers have a couple things in common…

One of them being that we have found ways to keep ourselves MOTIVATED and INSPIRED.

And the other thing most of us have in common,  is that a lot of us like rap music (Yes I do too).

I think it has to do with the fact that a lot of rappers have come from literally nothing, and have made themselves into multimillionaires and a lot of times they talk about coming from nothing, working hard, and becoming wealthy in their songs.

Not only have these most of these guys become successful in the music industry, but they’ve gone on to have success in other business ventures as well.

Take 50 Cent, in addition to being a rapper, he made most of his money by being a shareholder in Vitamin Water, he also has his only record label, his own clothing line, and his own brand of very expensive headphones.

Speaking of headphones, another successful rapper is Dr. Dre who has made close to a billion dollars with his headphones brand “Beats By Dre”, in addition to that he also owns the Aftermath record label.

Then you have Diddy who not only owns the Bad Boy record label, but he also owns the Sean John clothing brand.

And… Jay Z who owned Roc-A-Fella Records, started the 40/40 Club, and owns the Rocawear clothing brand.

But my favorite is a rapper named Eminem… This is a guy who had all the odds stacked against him and worked hard to overcome those odds and be the top artist in the rap game. He not only owns Shady records and the Shady 45 Sirius station, he also owns the Shady brand of clothing as well.

So where am I going with all this?

Well one of my favorite rap songs that inspires me is the song Airplanes 2” by the rapper B.O.B. featuring Hailey Williams and Eminem.

The song is really good, but Eminem’s part in the song gives me chills whenever I hear it.
Let me break it down for you, and hopefully it will inspire you too…

    It starts off with…
Let’s pretend Marshall Mathers never picked up a pen
Let’s pretend things would’ve been no different

(Eminem’s real name is Marshall Mathers, and he is saying to pretend like he never picked up a pen and wrote down rap lyrics on a piece of paper, and since he never did come up with rap lyrics his life would have never changed for the better… The same is true for you too, if you don’t work on your internet business then chances are you’re not going to change your life for the better either)

Pretend he procrastinated, had no motivation
Pretend he just made excuses that were so paper thin
They could blow away with the wind, “Marshall you’re never gonna make it
Makes no sense to play the game, there ain’t no way that you’ll win”

(Eminem is saying to pretend that instead of pursing his dream of being a rapper, he came up with lame excuses as to why he shouldn’t get started, and in addition to that he is filled with self doubt telling himself “Marshall you’re never gonna make it” and then goes on to say that it makes no sense to pursue his career in the rap game because the is no way that he’ll ever be successful in it, and he also says pretend that he lacked motivation and in turn he procrastinated ever getting started…
Does this sound familiar? I see it all the time, people want to make money, but instead of getting started they procrastinate, and come up with excuses like they don’t have the time or money, yet they have no problem watching a reality show at night or going to Starbucks and buying an expensive cup of coffee every morning.
And are you filled with self doubt? And telling yourself that you’re never going to make it? Or that it is going to be impossible to compete with those internet marketers that are earning 6 to 7 figures a year?)

Pretend he just stayed outside all day and played with his friends

(He is saying to pretend that instead of staying inside and working on his rap skills, he instead went out and hung out with his friends… The same applies to us too. I remember when I was first trying to get started my friends wanted to me to go hang out with them on the weekends, but I chose to instead stay in and work on my business. It wasn’t the most fun thing to do, but it was well worth it, and it paid off for Eminem too)

Pretend he even had a friend to say was his friend
And it wasn’t time to move and schools weren’t changing again
He wasn’t socially awkward and just strange as a kid

(In this he talks about the fact that as a kid he was constantly moving to news neighborhoods, because his mom was poor and unstable, so they had to keep moving, which led to him being socially awkward and not having a whole lot of close friends)

He had a father and his mother wasn’t crazy as sh_t

(Eminem grew up without his dad being in his life, and he has said multiple times that his mother was mentally unstable, which didn’t necessarily make for the most stable home life for him as a child)

And he never dreamed he could rip stadiums and just lazy as sh_t

(In this part he is talking about the importance of having a dream and going for it, for him it was dreaming of one day performing concerts in stadiums… You may not dream of playing concerts, but you’re probably dreaming of being able to take vacations whenever you like, or moving into a bigger house, etc.  The bottom line is it’s important to have a clear idea of what you want to have in order to stay motivated)

F__k a talent show in the gymnasium, b__ch

(In this he is talking about what if he put off doing the little things like starting small and performing in his schools talent show)

“You won’t amount to sh_t, quit daydreaming kid
You need to get your cranium checked
You’re thinking like an alien, it just ain’t realistic”

(In this he talks about his friends and family telling him that he won’t amount to anything, and to stop daydreaming about performing in front of sold out crowds, and that he needs to be realistic about things, and realize that he’ll never make it as a rapper.

Has that every happened to you? I remember when I was first trying to make it online, most of my friends and family told me to be realistic and to just focus on getting a good 9 to 5 job. Heck I remember some of those people mocking me, and asking whether I had made my first million dollars yet. The funny thing is that years later they were the same people asking me how to do it themselves.)

Now pretend they ain’t just make him angry with this sh_t
And there was no one he could even aim when he’s pissed at

(In this he is saying that when they told him to be realistic and that he’d never make it, he didn’t let it get to him, instead it made him angry and that he used that directed that anger at his opponents in rap battles. I did the same thing, whenever someone told me I was wasting my time, I’d use that as my motivation to stay up a little later and keep working, and it paid off)

And his alarm went off to wake him but he didn’t make it to the Rap Olympics
Slept through his plane and he missed it

(The night before he was supposed to fly out to California to the Rap Olympics, Eminem had been kicked out of his house, he actually had to break into the house and sleep there, and he is saying that he was tired and that when the alarm went off to wake him up, he could have just hit the snooze button and slept in)

He’s gonna have a hard time explaining to Hailie and Lainey
These food stamps and this WIC sh_t

(In this part he is saying that had he chosen to let all of the negative circumstance in his life, whether it be that he was poor, the self doubt he had, listened to the negative people in his life, or had he chosen to sleep in and not go to the Rap Olympics, then he would have never made it as a rapper, and that he would have to explain to his daughter Hailie and his niece Lainey, whom he has adopted, why they’re on WIC and living off of food stamps.)

Cause he never risked sh_t, he hoped and he wished it
But it didn’t fall in his lap so he ain’t even here, he pretends that

(He continues on, saying that since he never took the risk of buying a plane ticket when he barely had a dime to his name to go out to the Rap Olympics where he was discovered by Dr. Dre, then they’d be living on WIC and food stamps, because like a lot of us he hoped and wished for a better life, but that better life isn’t going to just fall in your lap, you’re going to have to work for it and take some risk, the same way Eminem did.)

Bottom line though… This song is inspiring and motivating if you really break down what Eminem is trying to say. Eminem literally had ALL of the odds stacked against him, he was poor, his mom was mentally unstable, he didn’t graduate high school, he was trying to get famous in an industry that is almost nearly impossible to get famous in, everyone around him kept telling him to just give up, but he had a dream, and he was willing to take risk and work hard to make that dream a reality, and it paid off, because now he is living his dream.

You have a dream too, or else you wouldn’t be reading this article on my website.

So I ask you… Are you willing to take some risk, work hard, and make your dream a reality?

If so… I recommend you get started by using this system to help you get started earning a full time income online.
